Thank you for stopping by to say hello to the team at Pet Partners. As we view our practices in the summer of 2009, we take a moment to stop and be thankful that our business has continued with strength at a time that many businesses around the country are struggling. We have had exceptional growth so far this year and intend for it to continue. Our staffs have been provided pay raises where appropriate, and our operations have continued to get stronger and stronger with the great support of the home team in Wilton, NY, and our field operations team.
This growth and development of Pet Partners team and affiliated hospitals continues with the addition of Casey Veterinary Hospital in Portsmouth, VA. Jane Casey and her team will become the facility seat of the merger of Casey AH and Dr. Dana Cleek’s Brentwood Veterinary Clinic. This relocation will be the second time this year that we have merged two practices in the same community. The merger will occur within about 4 weeks and we are optimistic that the occasion will be fitting for all the pets in the care of both hospitals. This provides us the ability to provide higher standard care to more clients with more efficiency. It allows better use of facility and better and more equipment for the combined hospitals. I personally like the idea of being more efficient with the provision of top class medical care for those pets entrusted to us at every location.
We have added two new executive level employees to the operations team in the past month. First, Nicole Shockley has joined the Pet Partners operations team as Director of Client Service Training & Support, and she will be responsible for helping the operations teams in each region change the broken paradigm that exists in veterinary medicine in relation to client/practice interface and client relations. All of veterinary medicine provides its service of medicine at a very high level. But the common flaw in all of our profession is that we do not communicate it well and we do not seem to properly value our services internally or externally. Nicole is working hard to develop a program that trains awareness at the front desk and sets standards of behavior and competence that can be measured with consistency. Nicole is a great personal addition to our team as well as a great professional addition.
Louise Geiss joined our team just last week as Regional Director of Operations for the Southeast. Louise will oversee operations for all of our practices from Florida north to Maryland. Louise comes to us after many years of experience in veterinary operations and we are all pleased that she has joined us. Louise has worked at every level of a veterinary practice over the years, and, after 10 years at VCA in operations and another short stint with a group of private practices in North Carolina, she has brought her wealth of experience, her level of enthusiasm and her energy to Pet Partners. I am excited to work with this individual on a direct basis. Welcome Louise!
So, if you as a prospective selling veterinarian have any misgivings about the internal level of commitment or professionalism of this Pet Partners team, I am here to promise you it is like no other. As we grow, we are all measured by you, the selling veterinarian. And you may call any of the former owners now with us and hear what they say. To remind all of you of a statement I use a lot, “our business is about the ‘who’ not the ‘what.’” We cherish our employees at all levels and appreciate the opportunity to work with you in figuring out the future of your practice. Come back again and I will keep you updated on our progress.
Thanks for stopping!
Best wishes,
Ted Sprinkle, DVM, Cofounder and CEO Pet Partners, LLC
