While he loves to run in his Florida backyard, Beau’s most happy when he’s hanging out with people. He’s so social that he even talks back to you when you talk to him.

Chief Medical Director and Cofounder of Pet Partners, LLC

Dr. Thomas Butera is Chief Medical Director to all of the practices owned by Pet Partners as well as being a Co-founder of Pet Partners, LLC. He assists in all aspects of recruitment and mentoring of veterinary associates and staff. He is also closely involved in all issues related to veterinary medicine, consistent continuing education, and professional practices to ensure that the client experience at all Pet Partners hospitals is second to none.

“At our practices, we provide the highest quality medicine that we can by caring for and educating our client base and taking care of their needs,” said Dr. Butera. “We accomplish this by making sure our number one priority is our team members – understanding their needs and concerns and working with them to create a positive, professional environment. If we do this right, then our team members’ positive enthusiasm spills over into a great client experience.”

Dr. Butera received his BA degree from Fairfield University in 1972. After graduating from the University of Missouri Veterinary College in 1978, he developed a multiple veterinarian, small animal/equine medical, surgical and reproductive practice in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. At that time, he also served as an assistant professor in the medicine department at Tufts University Veterinary School teaching veterinary anesthesia.

In 1999, Dr. Butera sold his business to Healthy Pet and joined the initial management team where he assisted in recruiting hospitals for acquisition. Additionally, he served as the lead recruiter of veterinarians for the Company. In 2000, he was appointed as Medical Chief of Staff for two different practice locations within the Company and was able to utilize his teaching and motivational skills to help mentor and develop young veterinarians.

Dr. Butera has been both author and co-author on numerous veterinary publications, and was also awarded a position in Who’s Who in Veterinary Medicine.
