Local Veterinary Technician Voted “Tops” At CypressCreek Animal Hospital
National Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week is October 12th-18th
Lutz, FL – The doctors and staff at Cypress Creek Animal Hospital in Lutz have chosen Erin Barbee to honor during the National Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week, celebrated from October 12–18, 2008. The National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) organizes this event each year in order to celebrate and highlight the critical role these “pet nurses” play in caring for animals.
“I have seen so many animals overcome seemingly insurmountable odds, and to be a part of that process is incredibly rewarding,” explained Barbee, a resident of Brooksville. “This is definitely a labor of love,” Barbee added.
Although she enjoys many aspects of her job, she especially likes wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. She has had the privilege of raising, rehabilitating and releasing an array of both domestic and wild animals. Barbee has been working at Cypress Creek Animal Hospital for over three years, after working as an animal caregiver at the Humane Society in Manhattan. Born in St. Pete, she now resides in Brooksville with her husband, 2 cats, 2 dogs and a rabbit.
Cypress Creek decided to honor Erin because of her devotion, compassion and understanding. The staff members describe her as a great communicator who makes sure the clients understand what is happening with their pets.
“Vet tech week provides an opportunity to honor veterinary technicians for the outstanding job they do,” said Andrea Ball, NAVTA executive director. The veterinary technician is an integral member of the veterinary health care team who has been educated in the care and handling of animals, the basic principles of normal and abnormal life processes, and in routine laboratory and clinical procedures.
The National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America celebrates National Veterinary Technician week annually to recognize veterinary technicians nationwide, for their contributions as members of the veterinary health care team. For more information, check out www.navta.net.
