Pet Partners is “Best in Show” for Educational Opportunities
Veterinary staff offered monthly continuing education courses
Saratoga Springs, NY: Pet Partners is committed to its employees–especially when it comes to continuing education. The doctors and staff at all Pet Partners hospitals are invited to monthly courses–free of charge and delivered directly to their desks. Exclusively offered within the Pet Partners network, most courses award credit for attendees.
“I appreciate the courses because they offer information I can implement immediately. They are short, relevant and convenient,” states Dr. Dick Duckett of The Cat Hospital in Auburn, MA. “The speakers provide great information, and I have access to the experts afterwards for continued support if I have any questions. The information is delivered right to my computer, so I’m able to get right back to my patients.”
The main objective for the typically hour-long courses is to enhance knowledge and improve skills across the board. “Consistent and informative continuing education provides our doctors an opportunity to learn about and implement new medical techniques, procedures and medications which they frequently do not have time to pursue in their daily labor-intensive work of caring for our clients’ pets,” explains Thomas Butera, DVM, Chief Medical Director and cofounder of Pet Partners, LLC. “Continuing education helps keep our doctors dedicated to the pursuit of delivering the highest possible quality of veterinary medicine and care.”
Dr. Butera has been passionate about education, supported by the fact that he taught at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. His lifelong goal was to introduce and challenge doctors to new medical methodologies, and for that reason, he started initiating monthly webinars and teleconferences aiming to keep doctors and veterinary support team members on the “cutting edge” of veterinary medicine.
Past topics of the continuing education courses have tackled business and management, while providing organizational structure and client service tips. Other themes have embarked on addressing a plethora of medical issues ranging from the laboratory to the pharmacy to the operating table and most things in between. Medical issues covering disease, internal medicine, anesthesia, pain management, including preventative measures such as dentistry and vaccinations, and more have all been available to the Pet Partners group. To address these subjects, Pet Partners has recruited many boarded veterinary specialists, college professors, innovators within the industry, business leaders and impacting individuals to speak to the group. Although Pet Partners financially supports the majority of the courses, strategic partners such as IDEXX, Purina and Pfizer also contribute to the initiative. The courses are archived online and available to view afterwards in case the doctors or staff members need to leave the seminar to attend to an emergency.
