Is your rabbit crazy for carrots and bonkers for bananas? Give your little furball what they crave by making some wholesome bunny rabbit treats! These treats are made from ingredients you can find in your pantry, and the crunch helps clean your rabbit’s teeth. Thanks to food.com for this great recipe.

What You’ll Need

Carrots

Carrot
1 small carrot, pureed or minced very fine

Banana

Banana
1/2 banana, mashed until creamy

Honey

Honey
1 tablespoon

Rabbit Pellets

Rabbit Pellets
1/4 cup, ground finely in a coffee grinder

Rolled Oats

Old Fashioned Oats
1/4 cup, ground finely in a coffee grinder

Baking Instructions

  1. Mix pureed carrot, mashed banana, and honey in a medium bowl. Add ground pellets and ground oats. Mix until blended.
  2. Knead in your hands for 1-2 minutes. It’ll probably be pretty sticky.
  3. Place dough on large piece of parchment paper and cover with plastic wrap. Roll dough to about 1/8” thickness. Peel off plastic wrap.
  4. Score flattened dough with a large knife in 1-inch cross sections like tiles. You’re not separating the tiles, just scoring them for easy breaking apart later.
  5. Transfer parchment onto a cookie sheet and bake at 325F for about 30-40 minutes, checking to make sure they don’t over-brown.
  6. Turn off the oven, leaving the cookie sheet in the oven for another hour until the treats dry to crispness.
  7. Remove from oven and cool completely on cooling rack.
  8. Break the tiles apart – easy! – and store in a zip lock bag in the fridge.
  9. Give one to your bunny on each day that he/she is adorable. (That’s every day, of course!).

Tips

Don’t have carrots or bananas on hand? Use any leftover fruit or vegetable that can be mashed or pureed instead! To mix it up try out cooked broccoli or apple slices.
