Board Certified or Board Eligible Critical Care Specialist
The Veterinary Specialty Hospital of the Carolinas (VSH) is seeking an additional board certified or board eligible critical care specialist to join our current team of two board certified critical care specialists.
We are a 3-hospital multispecialty small animal practice composed of five Internal Medicine specialists, six surgeons, four medical oncologists, one radiation oncologist, three radiologists, and a cardiologist in addition to our two DACVECCS. We have 24-hour ER at all three locations staffed by twenty full-time ER doctors. Our doctors pride themselves on providing expert, timely, collaborative, and compassionate care. Our hospital values a culture of teamwork and offers formal communication training to all our doctors. We believe that the high rate of burnout affecting veterinarians working in E/CC is alarming, and we strive to maintain a good work/life balance for each of our employees.
Critical care doctors at VSH are primarily responsible for the direct management of patients hospitalized in the ICU. We also consult on other specialty services’ cases, assist with procedures (e.g. pericardiocentesis, endoscopic foreign body retrieval, anesthesia for high-risk patients, etc), and contribute to in-house education of interns, ER doctors and the other specialists.
VSH is located in the Research Triangle area of NC – an area consistently rated as one of the best places to live and work in the US. We are comfortably nestled between the mountains to the west and the beaches to the east. There are numerous state and national parks in the area, tons of outdoor activities, sports teams, and abundant culture in the form of theatre, award winning restaurants and local dives, local craft breweries, music, and museums.
Several area websites can provide more information on the rich variety of activities and venues:

In addition to living in a wonderful area, our benefits package includes a competitive salary, moving stipend, annual professional licensing and association fees, generous CE allowance, and health insurance.
